Don't take this as an attack, just me being curious and trying to understand all aspects of this hobby. What's the fun in burning shoes? It definitely doesn't appeal to me but I'm clearly in the minority. Can anyone explain it? Or any of this, for that matter?

I'm trying to figure it out myself.

Got it, thanks. But I was hoping someone could possibly put the appeal into words. I understand the end result... wondering how it gets there.

As a young child just watch your daddy burning the beloved shoes of your mother in the boiler and find yourself with one of your first errections while the shoes are burning and after that find yourself connected to that for your lifetime.
Don´t kow why the burning shoes caused an errection. May be it´s because you played with them before they got burnt and may be they had been your mothers shoes you often saw her wearing them from your near the floor view.
So you lost your beloved toys and you earn a new passion.

I would say there is not ONE correct answer to this question... Image

...some people love to see the soft leather of the poor shoes (or what material they may be made of) slowly beeing eaten by the flames, others love the sound the fire makes or even the smell, or the entire show for all senses... :D

...and lots of people even enjoy the pain to know that the shoes are lost forever. You cannot bring them back after they have been burned.

That makes sense. Thanks.

Dare I ask why your father burned your mother's shoes?

There are some possible reasons and may be that they all came together
1 It was quiet normal in the end sixties to burn garbage in open fireplaces or any kind of stove, boiler...
Shoes are very good for burning. They fit easily into the fire chute. They burn completely. They give an enormous amount of heath while burning.
2 My mother had lots of heels laying around everywhere in the house and my father as a cleaning maniac disliked that. So he collected the shoes in a big carton and if my mother does not ask about them anymore he burned the shoes.
3 He had a shoe burning fetish.
