how waterproof are your leather boots ?

Post by chuppa boots »

Hi everyone :)

Although this forum is about to get wet and messy, I do have personally a preference to stay dry in my leather heeled boots whilst I walk in water and mud.

I love the idea of being able to walk where ever I /women wants in dressy look and do not care because the boots will be able to cope with the coditions :)
Plus feeling the pressure of the water on the leather whilst staying dry is quite exciting

Hopefully I am not the only one on this forum with this orientation in our common passion :)

With the time and experience I found out that some paire of boots (especially well made ones) without zipper can be pretty waterproof.
For example this pair of boots below from the brand "laura clément". I was able to play during 10 minutes in ankle deep water with them and then even to go to a flooded area that was closed to the top of the boots furing several minutes without any water leak inside ! I was honnestly really pleasantly surprise by their waterproofness :) (who needs a pair of wellies when you have such waterproof leather boots)

Can you share with us how waterproof some of your boots managed to be ?

I also like to keep my feet dry and my jeans clean, even if I like to walk through puddles and mud. I've also tried this with leather boots, but they get soaked and wet on the inside after a while. That's why I now wear “Manhatten” boots from ACQUO of Sweden. These are elegant over-the-knee boots with 6 cm high heels and 80 cm long boot shafts, but made completely of vulcanized rubber and therefore absolutely waterproof! However, these boots are incredibly soft and comfortable to wear (nothing to do with the usual rubber boot treads!). They are perfect for the promenade, but also for very deep puddles and mud holes, because they not only look stylish, but also keep your legs dry forever!

I was at the motocross with these boots. It was raining and very muddy. It's a wonderful feeling to walk for hours through deep mud, sometimes up to your knees. But the “Manhatten” boots kept absolutely dry and the mud was great fun!

Nice looking boots all of these. Not being a lady myself I do not know the sensations you describe of wet 'inside' boots, but I cannot imagine it is a pleasant feeling eventually leading to all manner of nasty foot issues if worn wet on the inside for extended periods. If I were a female and into this I would be in your camp of wanting to keep my feet dry at all times.
Do you have any mud action shots with these boots taking the staring position?

ACQUO “Manhattan” boots in the mud

I was coming home from a party. It had been raining and I took a shortcut through wet grass. The ground was soggy and I had an overwhelming desire to get these boots really muddy. I dug a deep hole and filled it with water. Then I climbed in with these boots; they are absolutely waterproof! I really churned up the mud with my heels and poured more water in and churned for so long that these mega-long heeled rubber boots sank into the mud well above my knees: these boots can withstand anything! I was in this mud hole for hours in these beautiful boots! What a perfect boot feeling when they are muddy beyond recognition from the heels to the edges of the shaft! The legs were dry and the jeans clean, as the long rubber tubes of boot shafts hardly slipped down. That's just the ultimate kick. These boots show that robustness and elegance don't have to be a contradiction in terms.
Simply wash them off with water afterwards - and you have elegant heeled boots for all occasions again!

Many many thanks for your answer :)
Those acquo boots are lovely and even if i'm not really into rubber boots I must admit they look really pretty :)

I prefer leather boots as I prefer their sexy shape and the way they follow my legs.
I'm not sure how much you have try with leather boots but some can really keep you dry for a long time,

See below some pictures of my knee high leather boots from the brand Marc Cain. Despite the muddy puddle I had to walk in, I stayed completely dry in them :) Even after spending 10 minutes in this knee deep puddles :)
What's a pleasure to just go trough a puddles that everyone is avoiding, knowing you will stay dry :)

Here's a technique, just got some new boots and they leak. So when you put your boots on, put a plastic bag on your foot, your boots may get soaking inside, but your feet will stay dry. ( Of course soaking them inside will eventually cause the heels to come loose and pull off signalling end of boots)
