Muddy High Heels

Did anyone see on the BBC news about the unclaimed luggage from Heathrow airport? The bags themselves are auctioned off for charity and are not opened, just think of the potential for used heels you could get. Each bag is auctioned for as little as £6, and even if you don't find anything you could abuse you can either give the left overs to a charity shop or sell it on eBay leaving even more potential for cashing in

I wish I had the ability to get to one of these auctions becuase with £30 or £40 that you would spend on a nice pair of heels you could invest into many bags and go for a lucky dip

You never know you could come across jewelry or other valuable things...

I think they get opened by the customs mob at the airport so you're unlikely to find anything too valuable inside.

What amazes me is that, with all the security checks and paranoia, the bast... sorry idiots still manage to lose people's belongings. (That's the other downside - what if it's your luggage goes missing? On the other hand, could be a thrill to see a pair of your own shoes or boots turn up here one day!)

Coincidentally I saw the same kind of thing on the Dutch tv. The bags were designated into a lot of multiple bags. Also auctioned off. While you might run into the odd dirty laundry, there is indeed a possibility of finding some valuable stuff. In this case among others, several cd players and expensive clothing.

I think it's worth the gample. And if you don't like what you find, you just dump it into a salvation army container. I'm sure they will be happy to recieve the goods.

I have been to storage places. If the renters get 6 months behind in the rent (usually because they decide they never needed that much stuff to begin with) The proprieter auctions off the contents. most buyers just take what they want and leave 80% of the stuff, ie clothing, behind.

Maybe bidders of the luggage will leave what they dont want in the trash. Lots of old used smelly shoes.

The news report I saw had people walking away with unopened luggage bags (were still tagged) for what was reported as being as little as £6, perhaps it was a one off. This was about British Airways and their luggage crisis. Yeah there was some clear dirty laundry bags some people had but most were the kind of bags you can wheel around which are bound to contain clothing and of course the shoes
