I fear the shoes would end up in a fire pit or a stove after all. The dance took place in a country without strict emission regulations and often lack of municipal garbage collecting. Furthermore I can feel how angry the girl was and how she refused to wear the worn out shoes again even if a cobbler would try to repair them. All she wanted is a new pair of dancing shoes and I guess she tossed the poor worn out shoes directly into the stove back home so that no one could ever get the idea to save them for the cobbler. I imagine how she was watching the old shoes dancing and bending in the flames and how she liked the sissling burning noises just to celebrate her revenge for the awkward moment on the dance floor.
