Fetishism
Kratft-Ebbing had a lot to say about various types of fetish conditions, including shoes. There have been other exhaustive explorations of the subject since. The term most recently applied to erotic stimulation by an inanimate object (or animate if it is a very specific part of a living human body, let's leave out those with an attraction to the dead (necrophilia)) is "paraphelia". It is inclluded in the "DMS-4", the pharmacoepia of mental disorders.
It is thought to arise when the normal attachment of an infant or very young child to its mother is somehow thwarted by her indifference, rejection or other inability to extend warmth & unconditional succor to the child. It occurs more frequently among children who have not been breast fed & who have been routinely prevented, physically, from voluntarily approaching the mother. In the instant discussion centered on shoes it has been proposed that the point of attempted contact with a standing mother by a floor-bound infant would likely be the feet & if shoes were present they would be included in the impression of the point of desired contact with the mother. They could become a very express symbol of attempted access to warmth & early sexual arousal.
Paraphelias are of such early & fundamental origin in the course of mental development that they are deeply rooted & very difficult to treat. The main object of any treatment is to render the compulsion controllable so that any overt actions which could result in social reprobation (i.e. going to jail for stealing Ivana Trump's designer collection, masturbating into a high heeled pump on a crowded subway, etc.) are circumventable by the sufferer.
Dr. Ruth, the TV pop-shrink, says that the development of a fetish to compensate for the denial of the real object of affection (mother) is a function of a very creative type of juvenile mind & is a clever method by the nascent psyche of working out of an untenable situation. (She didn't expressly say that fetishists are smarter than people who don't devise a paraphelia but let's assume that they are.) Unfortunately, the resultant resolution (the fetish) is often of life-long compulsive duration & can interfere with social behaviour al norms, including romantic relations & child rearing. So the severe fetishist is usually doomed to struggling with his/her affliction until sexual drive is dulled due to age, castration or other factors. Or until he/she gives up on the quest of approximating normal sexual functionality & finds his refuge here or in similar parapheliac group associations.
In this forum the additional factor of damage or destruction to shoes is overlaid upon the base paraphelia & probably represents a hostile desire to strike back at the imago that inflicted the original pain. You are attacking the thing that once appeared to hold the promise of entry to your expected & rightly deserved maternal bonding realm but instead pushed you out, maybe even with a spiked heel! This could have come about after a subtle realization that the things at the lower ends of the legs of the creature that put you off have now become, to you, an object of treachery, of subconscious anathema.
Drown, scuff, bake, mess, burn them fuckers but remember to call your mother on Mother's Day!
